dose any one know what could cos a swollen paw in a cat. we think that My wee brother has stood on it.
we know it is sower as he is a very pleased cot and you can sit and play with his tail or paws and wont bother but he is flinching when we go near his back paw now, and that's not like him.

Kendal ........... could be a number of things from an injury to an allergic reaction of some sort. If it's not better tomorrow I'd look at taking him to the vet.

we gave him an ibuprofen for the pain and to try bring down the swelling. ( we checked with the vet both when my mum had her dogs and with our two they said it was OK ) he isn't flinching so much now, he let me hold his paw and run my thumb along it so it has done something. but its still swollen. he is eating so that's good.

he normally sleeps out side with the others but we are bringing him in for the night.

If the swelling has existed for more than 48 hours and not reduced take it to the Vet and have it checked out.

If the paw has been stood on there is a possibility of a broken bone.

could this type of thing happen over like three days because i remember on Saturday he was getting annoyed when i touched his foot, it was swollen on Sunday and he have now found this. Confused

we still don't actually know what happened to Murphy's paw, but my mum thinks he burnt it as it became an open wound after the swelling went down, which since then has been healing up perfectly. still a wee bit to go but it doesn't bother him, but he is going to have a bold patch on his paw for a bit if not permanently.
