Great news folks, he's been reunited with his family. He belongs to a neighbour of mine and they had been looking for him everywhere since he disappeared on Thursday afternoon. At the second attempt at visiting Cumbernauld Police he was found in their kennels yesterday morning.
The police could apparently not give a reason why his family had not been notified despite their details being available.and him being microchipped! However all's well that ends well! Smile Smile

Great news! Police in Scotland do NOT have scanners. They can not check whether a dog is chipped and so have no access to owner's details. Only vets and rescue centres have scanners in Scotland. That was one of the points raised with Alex re his bill. He says he would be looking into this.

thats a bit odd that the police don't have scanners. they urge owners to get your pet chipped yet can't actually then use the chips.

This is correct....the police do not have scanners to read dog chips.......vets do ( to check that the chips they charge to put into your dog work).......so if a stray bit a child.........how quick would the police get hold of a scanner?
