Hi there had a visit from pdsa on Tuesday morning, they had a call from someone saying i was abusive towards Kai, wasn't letting him out at all, he was being sick everywhere, not feeding him properly, was told if i didn't get him seen by a vet they were taking him of me, so toke him through to pdsa in shamrock street this morning and was told hes fine apart from his eyes he may have to have a operation s his eye lashes may be ingrown so we have to try him with eye drops for two weeks and if they don't work itl have to be the operation.
here's hoping the eye drops will work |

KAI IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND THOSE WHO KNOW YOU SEE HIM REGULARLY AND KNOW THAT HIS IS ONE HAPPY HEALTH DOG!
SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT HIS EYELASH BUT EMMA WITH THE GREAT DANES HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH LADY AND SHE TOO HAS BEEN APPLYING DROPS. IT WILL REQUIRE AN OPERATION BUT SHE NEEDS TO WAIT TIL SHE IS OLD ENOUGH!
YOU DID THE RIGHT THING TAKING HIM TO BE CHECKED OUT BUT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE HAS A GRIPE WITH YOU. DON'T WORRY YOU ARE A RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNER WHO REGULARLY ATTENDS CLASSES AND SOCIALISES YOUR DOG!

If Kai does have to have an operation on his eyelids don't worry about it too much as it will help a lot. My previous dog had to have it done and it did help her. However they have to be old enough to have it done as my current 11 month old had the same problem when he was a bit younger and everyone in the breed told me to wait a bit until he grew into his eyelids so to speak , before going for surgery ,and sure enough he does not need surgery now. I'm not saying don't go ahead with it if it is required , I'm just saying to be aware that he MAY grow into his eyelids a bit more if he is still a pup but be guided by the vets.
It must have been very upsetting for you to get that visit but as Janis says DON'T FRET, you know you are looking after him and being responsible. Try not to let it get to you.
Good luck. _________________ Happiness is watching my dog chase leaves dancing in the breeze. |

Hi Tracy...sorry to hear somebody was so cruel What matters is you know and so does anyone that knows you and
Kai that he is a picture of health and Very Happy!!!! Oooops and Lady's boyfriend!
I agree with Janis you did the right thing and you are a responsible owner.
As for his eyes i will have a look on Sunday if you want...it is called Entropian and is pretty much a straight forward procedure.....have you got him insured, just a thought. The drops only alleviate the soreness but do not rid him of the problem if it is Entropian. Also if it hasn't gone by the time they are around 1 it usually isn't going to correct itself....they are just born with it..
Anyway babble over, keep your chin up and don't let idiots worry you!!! _________________ Happiness is being loved by 2 Great Danes |

thanks for all the comments, id kinda get to me a little bit that someone i know and trust to come into my house would do that to me as they knew i had the cage/bed, if you know what i mean, but as you all have said hes a Happy big chap and I'm sure if either John or Marcella had a problem with Kai and the way I'm treating him or anything then they would have said before now.
Emma will you have a look at his eyes for me as i don't really know what I'm looking for, but my other rottweiler i had had the same problem and i was told it was a trait with rottweilers to have runny eyes
That's exactly what i thought as well Janis as it has to be someone who's been in my house because they said i constantly leave him in his cage/bed, just cant believe someone iv trusted has done this to me |

thanks john, i don't know why though, why me, everyone down at the class sees us and i mean i don't batter him or anything, although the thing that gets me is it must have been someone i know and trust enough into my house because they know i have the cage/bed for him, they said i leave him in there all day and night which isn't true. it just really got to me because they said if i didn't take him to the vet they were taking him off me and i mean for what his eyes and a cut paw which wasn't ma fault in the first place. you see it yourself and you said it to me hes a big Happy chap and if i was hitting him he wouldn't be like that. |

My understanding is that a Court order is needed to remove a dog from a household........I may be wrong.
Perhaps some of the people involved with the rescue centres may be able to clarify this? _________________ John Thomson

Tracy, it isn't runny eyes that are a health problem trait in Rotties it is however the ingrown eye lashes, which you mention! I,m sure the operation Emma has mentioned rectifies this fairly successfully! As for your big lad, he seems happy and healthy enough to me! For your own peace of mind you should come out on some walks with the group if it is feasible, always helps with his training, and good for yourself for a bit of banter! _________________ Barry, Kylie & Jay with precious Rotti Tikka |
