i don't know how many of you read the tabloid papers like the sun , but to day there was a story about a greyhound that was shot in the head, and left in a ditch. it is assumed that it was shot for loosing a race. they have also found at least two other dogs. it is sickening to think that people can do that to animals.

Crying or Very sad

it's heartbreaking Kendal. That's why there are so many greyhounds looking for homes because when their racing days are over they are abandoned or worse.
Sad

It's a shame, they are beautiful animals who make great pets!

it is awful, they are seen as commodities and when they don't earn, they're useless. Sad

Some of the things the owners do to the dogs to @help@ them run faster is awful too. There should be some sort of regulatory board that could do spot checks. I know there is RSPCA but the owners are quite fly at hiding things. Obviously there will be caring greyhound owners that treat there dogs humanely but the ones that don't tarnish the whole of the greyhound circuit.

i know that there are some gray hounds that love to race. which is the way it should be. but you are right that some people are only interested in winning. and will do anything to do so, both to there own dogs and to others. Sad
