You can now put plastic bottle & food trays washed and flattened, textiles, food & drink cans rinsed & flattned aerosol cans empty, drinks cartons tratra pak type material, plastic contaners cleaned ie yogart margarine and the usual paper cardboard & magazines. Your local council will advise when this service commences as it will be one week blue bin the other wee black bin. Confused hope it starts soon as my blue bin is full Sad

Answer: In your blue bin we need clean material for recycling. If the material is not clean, the odours produced will attract flies to lay their eggs leading to maggots. To easily avoid this, rinse all your tins, drinks cartons, plastic bottles, tubs and trays. The full list follows:

Material
Action required

Clean cardboard (all types)
Please flatten

Clean food and drinks cans
Please rinse out

Aerosol cans
Need to be empty

Drinks cartons

(Tetra Pak type material)
Please rinse out and flatten

Clean plastic bottles
Please rinse out and flatten

Clean plastic pots and tubs
Please rinse out and flatten

Clean plastic food trays
Please rinse out

Textiles (clothes, towels etc)

I just got this off North Lanark Council web site, looks like the both of us may have been wrong

Rolling Eyes Never mind nothing like a good arguement over something daft Laughing Laughing

Yeah nowadays they won't even take a carrier bag that's lying beside the bin coz the bin's too full Shocked So we're meant to wait to get the empty bin back to refill it straigtaway Confused

In the flat - everything goes down the chute. Razz

Although I complain quite a lot about the bin men. They do a job I don't fancy.

Can anyone remember when they went on strike in the early 70's.

I can remember mountains of black bags festering for weeks.

Not much recycling back then.

Jack

that reminds me of when they all went on strike a few years back, William had to go under cover in and out the house as a few of the neighbours where not to happy and were harassing William in the street like it was his fault. He gets it in the neck quite a bit too when at work. They all do afraid to say that most bin men get treated like they are the lowest of the low when it comes to jobs from the public and thier bosses. I certainly couldn't do his job either puke but do have to wash his work stuff. Rolling Eyes
