I'm with ya there Kendal! Hooya!

Suzanne... sounds like you are having a total nightmare! The teenager needs to remember that he won't be a teenager for much longer and he should try to grow up a bit.

The way I see it, if you don't have a job and therefore cannot contribute to the household financially, then you'd damn well better find some other ways to do it.. and that doesn't mean gettin yer freak on whilst the dog goes hungry and runs amok!

Try putting the boot on the other foot maybe? Let him fester, do nothing for him: no food, no meals, no laundry. Next time he goes out, take the plugs off of his TV, computer etc... tell him that unless he helps around the house while you guys are out working and earning a crust, then he ain't using your electricity / hot water / food etc etc. Privileges need to be earned.

Either that or send him round here and I'll kick his @ss for you!

Enid you made me blush. Embarassed Embarassed

If it had been my mother who came in and caught me.

It would be the young lady that got the prong. Wink

I had to train Daddy first in order to train Son...he was running around after him like a slave. And some of the stunts he's pulled...it's been a fun 3 years !!!

Now I just have to train Son in order to train Dog.

See I knew there was a reason why I was single for so long.

I bit the bullet and bought a prong having had a shot of one for a week (thanks Kendal) - got a small one with a couple of extra links as had a look at the Leerburg site and he recommended small for Dobermann type dogs, but adding links if required.

Ian's still not convinced, but he's not seen it in action...

I've been away, so lunchtime was my first walk with it on and he was great. I'm calm, he's calm - not a problem. Walked well, was very responsive and good recall.

Mind you, he's also been getting more training and Teenager is away for a week (hurrah) so behaviour has improved.

Though I had another thought...Ian was away last week. Pack leader away (only the dog thinks that) - the pack will play. And deputy pack leader gets it in the neck!!

Suzanne I swear by the crate. You don't need to use a metal prong. Paul ( with Tino) uses plastic type prongs which look effective. Not sure where he got them. I have very low memory retention Rolling Eyes

He has been SO much better this week as he's been crated rather than being left to get up to mischief. And I know he's been getting a walk during they day, cos I've been driving home to do it!

He's back in a routine which he doesn't get with the son and is calm and biddable.

Ian's coming round to it as we use it as the behaviour requires rather than seeing it as the only solution....getting the Teenager a job is the solution!
