It looks as if Cuthbert may have developed an inter digital cyst. I noticed a swelling between his toes on the way back from a walk (or should I say a mud bath!!)which wasn't there earlier. He is not limping but he does not like it washed. We are off to the caravan tomorrow so he has a Saturday appointment booked at the vet up there. Apparently this is not uncommon in spaniels as when I was talking to the receptionist the first question she asked was "Is he a spaniel?" I'm not too sure about treatment though whether antibiotcs will suffice or if it will have to be excised. Heigh ho here we go again! Still not to worry there are much more serious things out there than this.

Hi Gaelle.

Hope Cuthbert gets better soon.

Let us know how he gets on at the Vet.

Hi Jack,
Vet lanced the cyst, flushed it out and gave us antibiotics for 5 days. They think it was probably a grass seed which caused the problem and chances are it will happen again at some point. Ah well he's fine now and we are just trying to keep his paw as dry as possible without putting on an Elizabethan collar as the silly dog would likely sprain his neck and if he wore a sock it would be chewed off in minutes. Still so far he hasn't really chewed at his paw thankfully.
Hope Kodi and Oscar (and yourselves obviously) are well. Cheers!

Gaelle - you might be interested in this thread. I still swear by this cream - we have yet to have a repeat of the condition.

Oh that is interesting. I'll try to get some tomorrow when I'm out. Thanks Enid. The poor lamb is licking at it tonight and it can't be pleasant so in the morning I'll give him some metacam then look for that cream. By the way apart from wearing an Elizabethan collar any suggestions how I can stop him licking at it when we're not there to stop him? The vet would like it kept open to the air to help it dry up.
Thanks again.

I'm afraid the collar is the only way when you are out, Gaelle, but hopefully you can leave it off when you are there to watch him. These cysts are incredibly painful for our dogs and I hope the cream works for you. If you can't get a hold of it, pm me and I will tell you where it is available.
