Okay decision made.! He is booked in for his neutering next week. The poor boy is SO uncomfortable and unsettled at times I think it's the best option for him , plus other entire dogs are starting to pick on him when we are out walks lately. I know it's the right thing to do for him but I still feel nervous about it. Rolling Eyes
I would imagine that we would give training a miss at least until the stitches come out?

best decision in my mind gaelle!.............it is also a very simple operation for a dog oppose to a bitch which is major surgery!

Gaelle, you will be surprised how quick they get back to normal, just see how he is for a few days after the op and im sure he will be back to training as normal Smile

I think you are doing the right thing and Cuthbert will be fine Smile

Gaelle, I agree. I think it's the right decision. It won't stop you worrying mind - I was a complete nightmare when my lot had their ops Embarassed Worried myself stupid all day long, rang the vets a few times checking on progress and only settled properly once I had them back home with me.

As Janis and Shirley have said, he'll be fine and you'll be amazed at how quickly he bounces back from the op Wink

Well you're in good company then Gaelle. I think any one of us who has had any of ours done will tell you WE worried far more about it than the dogs/cats or the vets Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing

I'll be thinking of you so let us know all is well once the deed has been done Wink

Entire male dogs will try to pump Otto but he has none of it...and is also too fast for them. The only way it's changed him is to stop him trying to pump (pardon the phrase), as I said he's the same daft lug he always was.

Otto didn't need to get his stitches out, was all internal, but probably depends on the vet, but yes we kept him off training for a week.

The deed is done and Cuthbert is back home snoozing in the sunlight. The stitches are all dissolveable (is that really a word or have I made it up?) thankfully so no worries about trying to hold him still while a vet approaches his nether regions with a stitch cutter blade Laughing Laughing . I'm told to give him something light for tea and knowing my hound he'll just scoff it down and look for his REAL meal.
That's my boy!! Wink Wink

Does that mean my leg is safe Laughing - mind you, might take a few weeks. I won't wear any perfume for a while.

That was funny last week, when John thought he was especially enamoured with Otto...nope, he was all man and after the nearest female.

He can join Otto in the nonedog gundog club - although they remain masculine even without their tackle.

Glad he is 'done'........he will recover in no time Gaelle.........having had to hold down a GSD in the past to have stitches removed.........trust me ......dissolvable stitches are good.

He will bounce back in no time at all.
