Have been quite busy recently making my computer behave itself. It was getting really really slow and throwing up all sorts of errors etc.
What do you do when it starts playing up?
Well you can do the following
run anti-spyware software and do a virus scan.
Go through the programs on your pc and uninstall via the 'add/remove' program any that you no longer need or want.
Check your task bar and remove any programs that are running in the background that aren't needed. Will post a link for a program called 'starter' that does this simply and safely.
Check your documents and pictures files and clear out anything there you don't want...or write them to disk.
Perform a disk check, disk clean up and defrag.
So that may explain why I not been around lately lol |

Another good program for cleaning up the pc and making it run more efficient is Advanced Windows Care. Great wee program. You can download a free version to try it out. |

Do you have the Pro version? The Pro version rather than the freebie takes out loads of stuff. Made a big difference to my pc. |

Just got my machine back on line safely - and saws these posts.
Have you cleaned the Registry?
You can use a program 'Regclean' or a number of others that are available online. I make the following observations.
Some are 'free' to use - and will show you your registry errors - then charge a fee if you wish to clean them up.
Always ensure that any registry cleaner has a 'restore' function to it. I used one once which didn't and ended up having to re-install a program.
That said my machine has run far faster once the 80 or so errors in the registry were corrected

The reg clean I have found isn't compatable with Windows xp?
Most registry cleaners i have seen are shareware unfortunately.
If I can put up with it doing basic housekeeping on it for the next two weeks, we getting a new pc and will reformat and possibly rebuild this pc for the kids to use. |

You seem to have been unlucky!!!!
I simply typed 'registry cleaner' into Google and got what was required!
Both Janice's machine and mine - which runs on Vista are much faster for the cleaners.
