i got up this morning and Yoda's face is swollen. Her throat seems fine and breathing OK. I gave her bones from a butcher two days ago she has had the bones loads. However after eating them she would run to her bed and rub her face. This has went on for two days but her ace is swollen today. She is eating OK but not playing. I called vet and have an appoint at 15:30. If this was a human i would give her an anti histamine.
I have washed her face with just histamine try and help with itch.
please help |

Maybe something stuck in her gums that's caused an infection? |

Has she bumped her face? Is it sore for her if you touch it?

thanks everyone so much. I was in panic mode my baby was ill. The vet here is great i really like him. He is not everyone cup of tea. However, he does not believe in giving injections all the time. I agree with that. He said she has had a reaction to something. It may have been a new air freshener i used a few days ago. the vet said probably a plant. There is no chance then. We are out all the time here, up hills in farms in swimming everywhere. She seems to be a bit tired.
He said her neck was also swollen. I noticed that because her prong did not fit. He said just to let it go. The swelling was going down. He said if her breathing becomes bad just to call him and he will be straight out.
He said it would be a steroid injection he would give her but because she was getting better herself. He said it was better not to give injections if you can help it.
That's been twice i have been to that vet and he has never charged me. The last time we went Yoda had sores on her belly. This is due to having an allergy to grass. The vet gave me cream and it worked a treat and again he did not charge me. |

Amanda
It was Gerri that told me about giving the dogs piriton and I asked my vet who said yes it was ok to give them it....for a dog bobs size it would be one a day.
I give it to bob whenever his skin breaks out, which is an allergic reaction and I seem to be managing his skin and ear condition a bit better.
so maybe a piriton may help yoda get over her allergic reaction a bit quicker. _________________ "In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog." |

Brilliant news Amanda - keep us posted and as Kirsty says a Piriton shouldn't do her any harm at all and could speed up her recovery. xxx _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |
