WANTED: Dog friendly campsites

If anyone could refer any dog friendly campsites that would be great. We are going to try and get a weekend camping in before end of September to see how everyone copes with our furry addition.

Will probably go up to Glen Nevis site as we haven't been up there at all this year and I am having withdrawal!

We were at Benderloch - about 15 miles north of Oban this year. It is run by the Caravan and Camping Club and was very dog friendly. The dog walk off the site takes you into woodland walks.

Recommend it.

some of the groups I was involved with did camping weekends full of activities and fun, will have to see where they where as I never went to them. But think that would be a great idea a forum group camping weekend, we could do agility, or walking training then at night bbq and booze for those that can drink. they appear to be good fun.

you could try Culzean castle in Ayrshire. It has scope for Ash and you get free entry to the castle grounds if you're camping so the children could visit the adventure play ground, duck pond etc.
Also its near Ayr if you want shops, cinemas etc.

:lo Its funny but we had the same thoughts about a club camping/caravanning trip. There seem to be a few campers/caravanners around. So long as it was somewhere with clean loos and hot showers.

I would be well up for it, I have a massive tent can sleep 8, sad to say never used it yet and am desperate to give it a go, always used the smaller 4 or 2 man tent, our new one is like a house. one of the camp sites I know does group bookings but has bothies for the tent shy folks

We have a 'house' too lol. We bought it in the Argos sale last year when I was pregnant. I managed to crawl out the smaller tent up to 28 weeks...after that I demanded something I could stand up in...eve if I still had to roll off the mattress to get up lol

We thought we should get something bigger aswell as we had planned to take the travel cot with us for the wee man. As it is we just bought him an inflatable mattress with sleeping bag and he loves it.

A dog camp with folk from the club is a great idea!

The caravan and camping club is 'the friendly club 'of course it welcomes dogs. It was interesting this summer that we thought there were more dogs about than ever. You should join it Cass It really has the best loos. Loos and dogs what more do you need?

am more concerned on price to be honest, with large tent, three kids, two adults and a dog, some places will charge a fortune

Loos rate lower on my checklist...I am happy to jump behind a tree lol

the club does family deals and of course its cheaper for members. It also has little sites that only take about 5 units and provide nothing but water. They're often in lovely places but I like my comforts. I'd NEVER survive a night in a tent No matter how big it was. I even left guides rather than camp Razz

Rain, wind, cold. You can't mean in Scotland. I just hadn't realised you were going so far afield.
I think we'd better agree to differ on camping. But i do admire your courage.

well I spent the night out in tempertures of -4 with no tent. We did have camp fire which would have made a difference if there was a breeze at all lol

Drew is promising me camping under the stars up in the 'empty quarter' for our honeymoon...bliss Smile
