my friends brother is in the middle of a marriage split and is now without a home, he has a fawn 9y.o. saluki x greyhound who is great with kids and small animals. he was not used as a working dog but he will chase deer. he is very unsettled and paces in a house so is kept outside as he was a rescue previously from travelers. we have contacted lots of rescues and they have said no thanks because of the house problem but he is coming to stay with me until a home can be found and will have to be in the house so i hope he might settle a little. PLEASE HELP Sad

Me too!!!! It would be a shame for a healthy good natured dog to be PTS. If he's used to being outdoors surely it wouldn't be tooooo hard for someone to accommodate him? Sad

Have you tried the dogs trust? they claim to never PTS a healthy dog Smile that's how they end up with "sticky dogs" (the one's they can't home) We got both Sunny (RIP) and Ella from them.

From my experience dogs trust and the sspca have a 4 week waiting list, i also know from experience the dogs aid and all re home shelters round the Glasgow and Edinburgh have between a 4-5 week waiting list.

if your friends plan to rehome the dog with dogs trust i would contact them the now.

there are certain shelters that take dogs in from the police, if the dog is not chipped then take him to the police station and tell them he is a stray and the are much more likely to get him into a rescue shelter used by the police

Oh, great news, but I will keep it in mind just in case, tho I had my friend email me 2 days ago saying she has 2 foster afghan hounds up for rehoming, she is the afghan hound rescue for their club.

I couldnt take him as Luka and another male would be trouble in the one house at the moment plus with 3 cats I dont think that would work either, but good thoughts to your friend and hope they get a home for him soon
