I need some tips on getting SAM from the down to the stand position
my mum was working him tonight and from the down he would lunge forward
and try to steal the treat and think it was a big game.
mum ended up with a sore finger and so not happy. Evil or Very Mad

Keep your hand closed in a fist, or just smear the scent of the treat over your hand so there's nothin to eat, just a great smell. Don't have your fingers sticking out:)

We teach or dogs not to snatch food from our hands and both take it very gently. Get a treat and if the dog moves in to snatch close your hand and say 'no'. Only give the treat when they calmly take it when you present it.

Training is a big game though, you just need to set more boundaries.
