I'm interested. What is your favourite poem?
Mine changes with my mood. Today's choice is W B Yeats.
When You are Old
When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

I'm a Mod, I've always been a Mod,
my father was a Mod before me.
My coat's a Crombie, my shirt's a Ben Sherman.
The boots on my feet were made by a German.
Outside the kitchen window lies his broken-down Lambretta
and I'm gonna fix it when the weather gets better.
That's a poem I heard on MTV about 16 years ago when I was studying in Germany and it sticks in my head to this day. Always makes me smile. _________________ Steve Young

Unto Us by Spike Milligan.
Somewhere at some time
They committed themselves to me
And so, I was!
Small, but I WAS!
Tiny, in shape
Lusting to live
I hung in my pulsing cave.
Soon they knew of me
My mother —my father.
I had no say in my being
I lived on trust
And love
Tho' I couldn't think
Each part of me was saying
A silent 'Wait for me
I will bring you love!'
I was taken
Blind, naked, defenseless
By the hand of one
Whose good name
Was graven on a brass plate
in Wimpole Street,
and dropped on the sterile floor
of a foot operated plastic waste
bucket.
There was no Queens Counsel
To take my brief.
The cot I might have warmed
Stood in Harrod's shop window.
When my passing was told
My father smiled.
No grief filled my empty space.
My death was celebrated
With tickets to see Danny la Rue
Who was pretending to be a woman
Like my mother was.
did this as school and like you steve it stuck with me!......i know lorna it's not one you like or probably the best written but it left an impact with me and made me think.....even s a young teenager! _________________ Cockapoo's...a little of this, a little of that..........

I saw this one and just couldnt resist!!
That For The Blokes
Now I'm old and feeble,
And my pilot light is out,
What used to be my sex appeal
Is now my water spout.
'Twas a time, when of it's own accord
From my trousers it would spring,
But now I have a part time job
To find the blasted thing.
I used to be embarrased
To make that thing behave,
For every single morning
It would stand and watch me shave.
But as old age approaches
It sure gives me the blues,
To see it hang it's withered head
And watch me tie my shoes.
