How can I stop Ria from jumping up on people when she approaches them?

Some people are ok with her doing it, but she's still quite excited and keeps bounding all over the place.

Will try to get back to class this weekend ................... Laughing

Try this with yourself first of all.

When you see Ria about to jump up at you, turn your back to her quickly and ignore and keep doing this and hopefully she will learn that jumping up will get her nowhere and praise her without getting her too excited when she doesn't jump up.

Good luck

i find that meg also does this but if im beside her when she does it and if she is on her lead i will give her a sharp tug down and tell her off, if she jumps up on me when i come home from work i will give her a light push away with my knee and tell her off again, once she has all four paws on the ground i will tell her to sit and only then i will praise her, it important not to use DOWN if you already use this as a command for lie down.

As has been said before, turn your back and ignore her if she jumps up. Otto was terrible for this and it took a while to sort out, but he only got a clap when he was calm and four paws were on the ground.

He's also not allowed to meet people at the door. Stick a lead on her if she jumps at people - it's bad manners and if your foot is on the lead, she can't jump and get them to ignore her until she's calm and not jumping up (this isn't easy and most people's first reaction is to make a fuss).
