Tried giving Bracken & JD raw food last night and today.

JD isn't impressed, he'll go up to his bowl, sniff and walk away. Bracken is taking to it a little better.

I'll try them with the chicken wings tomorrow.

trace my gypsy was the same and has been the pickiest eater of a dog i've ever had!

echo was given raw from 8 weeks and loved it....in fact i forgot to defrost some and offered her a sachet of puppy food which the breeder had given me and she turned her nose up at it....and that was within the first week of having her!

when gypsy was that fussy i was determined to get her to eat what i wanted her to eat!

like jd she turned her nose up at the raw at first.......not the most pleasant smell ....but initially i browned the raw.....and i mean browned......not cooked literally just browned it......it the smell drove her mad and she wolfed it down......maybe give that a try.....just remember the peg for your nose.....depending on what you are browning it can be awful!......but now gypsy just eats what's put down to her!

also if you follow the 15 minute rule it might help too!...............and no treats in between!

Flash it in the microwave for a wee while..

They will get used to it if you persevere..

I give mine theirs frozen! and they gnaw away at it..slows them down a bit

Thanks for the advise Janis & Louise, tomorrow I'll brown it first and I'll get them out for a big walk first to get their appetite going.

I'll let you know how they get on.

Raw feeding really not going well especially for me.

Tried browning the meat and I kept being puke_l, tried keeping it frozen, defrosting, I added bits of the liver cake but JD still wouldn't eat it.

I took them for a long walk thinking that would make him hungry enough to eat it but alas no he wouldn't touch it. TALK ABOUT FUSSY

Bracken's enjoying the chicken wings, loving them from frozen. Very Happy

If anybody's got any other ideas please let me know.

sorry to hear this trace.....might sound harsh but literally starve him for a few days.....lots of water obviously....although there aren't wild dogs about now but if he was in the wild he would eat whatever and not every day!

ask john he might have more ideas but that's what i would do!

Nice to see you trained so well!! Laughing

Put it down for 15 minutes, if he wont eat it lift it.....wait a few hrs and give him another 15 minutes...same again next day,,,

dont be giving him lots of treats either as he wont be hungry enough to eat if you are...

What was he fed before?

YAHOOOOOOO

JD ate his dinner tonight. Smile Smile

I flash cooked his meat in the microwave and mixed it with leftover mince and veg from my dinner and he cleaned the plate.

Poor boy was starving, he cleaned his plate.

Think you will find he will eat from now on........don't feel sorry for him if he does not eat......as has been said leave it 15 mins then lift what has not been eaten and cover it with clingfilm for the next meal..........as pack leader you control what he eats and when he eats it, he will find if he does not like your rules he will feel a little hungry until next meal.
