How did you decide on your dogs' names?
Our first Dane was Samson because he seemed so huge and strong.
Others
Titch - she was the runt of the litter
Winston - had a wrinkled wee face that reminded me of Winston Churchill.
Friday - we got him on Good Friday. He could have been Fool as it was April Fool's Day too.
Oscar came with his name, as did Angel, Misty and Scooby.
Basil was after Basil Fawlty and the Ministry of Silly Walks because he was so skinny he couldn't control his legs. They went in every direction when he tried to walk.
Poppy because she was called Puppy Dane as she was supposed to be fostered until she was well enough to re-home. New owner would choose her name. Well - she took a long time to get fit and she bonded with Basil and John. We couldn't let her go so we picked the closest name to puppy as she answered to that.

Looking forward to your name stories.

Lorna, we had Misty and Scooby too who were named before we got them, tho afterwards we found out Mistys racing name was spectacular wish so we would probably have named her Wish

Pixel, Allan decided after camera pixels as she was his wee bit of colour after he had his operation and stopped smoking...tho she turned out to be a mummys girl she was originally destined to be daddys hunting girl lol

Moya is a spaceship in farscape

Luka, he had picked out for a male dog and it was from the Garfield movie I think it was a doberman tho not sure

Hektor got named because I wanted something strong and regal to suit him. I was reading Troy at the time and Prince Hektor was the kings eldest son. Everyone always thinks 'Hectors House' which is apparently a kiddies TV programme from the 70's...never seen it! Laughing He gets called Hek quite a lot...as in BL00DY HEK!!!! whats he done now!

Millie - we agonised over this. Colin didnt want anything too girly so he would be embarrassed calling her if he was walking her while working in a rough area of Glasgow Laughing Laughing It seems to suit her.

My boxer Ollie came with his name.

We called the cat Ziggy after Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie character was on TV when I brought him home.

The kids got to pick the names for the ferrets, Buttercup, Lucy and Daisy. I chose Elvis for the male cos he's a cool dude!

I had a budgie snowey who was an albino
then there was stevie named by my niece no idea why
then charlie because he looked a right one and I now also have skye because I was given hm by a man from skye place

who know what will be next

Otto was almost named Jasper, but our Dutch friends' grandson was born just before we got him. I also liked Bruno, but again a relative of a relative was called that.

So he was Otto - which was the only German name we could think of that wasn't a member of the Gestapo. But it suits him.

Rudi I liked, but then a girl at my work called her son that. But I wasn't for changing it because we couldn't think of another name that would suit him...it's German-ish. Tho he is more likely to answer to "you little git"

Our dog as a kid was called Sulu after Mr Sulu in Star Trek, even tho she was female. We all hated it, but she was 6 months old so we didnt want to change it....it grew on us.

Chris chose Hobbes after a lion in a comic from a few years ago . . . Calvin and Hobbes. He liked the comic so much that if our baby had been a boy he would have been Calvin.

My Cat (now 12) is called Alf, short for Alien Life Form. You are too long in the tooth if you remember the TV program.

The bold Fred was named by simply looking at him, with no thought out came Fred, and the rest is history. Everyone tells me that it's a cool name.

Looking forward to getting his antlers on for the 17th. all going well!!
