I mentioned in the 'snow, ice, paws' thread that Mylo was having trouble with his front right paw. Well today I noticed blood on the snow while walking.
In between his middle toes the webbing has been split and there is a large area of raw flesh. Could have been an accident while running or an absess or whatever, either way it looks very nasty.
He has no trouble walking but defo worth checking it out I think.
I Duct taped a sock on his paw as he was eating his paw all the time. He hates it and has been miserable all night _________________ Steve Young

Had to leave Mylo at the vet for an operation:(
Vet said it was a nasty cut and wouldn't heal on it own as it was wide open.
Have to cut the edges of the wound back and then stitch it, so he'll have to rest up for a bit (that'll be a struggle) _________________ Steve Young

Poor Mylo, hope it heals soon and you manage to keep him occupied without exercise...know how hard that is!

Off to pick him up now... £161, all fixed!
No doubt he'll have a lamp shade on his head, I know how he loves them...
Will be putting a wee claim in to More Than insurance, maybe get half the money back. _________________ Steve Young

He has to stay off it for 10 days! Toilet breaks only.
Vet said he gave him a LOT of stitches to try and keep it all together. If it bursts Mylo will have to have his webbing removed! Really hope it heals well and fast. Going back to vet on Monday for a check and dressing change.
I'm getting him a set of THESE _________________ Steve Young

Our daughters dog has those shoes. She has a muscle wasting disease in her hind legs and she sometimes drags her paws. The boots stop the paws bleeding. It cause lots of comments in the park. |

Thanks John, but I have a big crate for him which he sleeps in every night. Appreciate the offer.
Really feel sorry for him. For a dog who lives to run (as well as eat) being confined like this feels really cruel.
He had a checkup today and a dressing change. All seems to be healing well, next check up on Thursday, then I can maybe start walking him a bit on the lead.
Also his growling towards Sam has returned, so we're working on that this week too. I'm ignoring him, sam's feeding him. Stressful! _________________ Steve Young

I know how you feel - but the time will pass. We've had to ground Otto a couple of times after he was neutered and when he cut his side.
And he doesn't do housebound either! Was doing speedways round the house by the end of it and was very naughty
We did training with him to tire him out...he wasn't fooled, but it helped a bit. |
