for those of you who know skye the great dane pup who is 5months old, you will know she has dodgey eyes. poor skye is going in 2 get operated on 2morrow morning. To begin with skye was given drops as her eyes were quite swollen and her eye lids had started to invert, this had been on going since skye was 8 weeks old. vets had been keeping a close watch on skyes eyes as they thought this problem would sort itself out when skye grew, but after our visit today vets reckon that she has no sight in one of her eyes and if she is not operated on then the other eye will quickly follow behind.

i was totally devistated when vet said today as Luke our other great dane is the problem dog not skye and skye is still only a baby. Sad

if all goes well they reckon that when they remove all of the excess skin then her sight will return, they just hope that her sight has not been damaged by her inverted eye lids. i will find out more tomorrow.

got skye home around 3pm today. she looks like she has went a round with mike tyson. vets seem pleased with operation but says we wont see the full result for a few weeks because of swelling. at least thats it all over and done with now.

just had to seperate them as luke is so scared of her buster collar so skye cant move without him growling, which is out of character as they get on so well. the minute skye moves luke is on edge.

things may only get worse as skye was and still is very sleepy but wen she is up and moving around luke is not going to be too pleased.

well bring on tomorrow, im ready to act as the peace keeper. hahaha

luke got out of bed on a better side this morning. i think he has realized its skye now, yesterday a don't think he could brave it to go close enough to see who it was. so now hes more calmer just doesn't like it if she puts her buster collar on him, but he seems much happier to be around her, hes even be trying to play with her. thank goodness.

Hi Heather

How is Skye now? Are her eyes healing OK? Dont envy you the 'lampshade' for her, at least she is still (reasonably) small, cant imagine Hektor managing to negotiate the house with one of them on, Great Danes are clumsy enough!

yeah shes doing good, she was at puppy classes tonight. she still has the stiches in but they are disolving. yeah she had the lampshade on for one week. it didnt stop her at all. when luke had his he got caught on everything, but prob because his was double the size. skye figured out that if she ran a things fast enough then she would get by. lol
