Just read this myself on Yahoo news. What a shame, just shows you how quickly this can happen.

no.. unlikely
but the only positive is getting a message across to handlers of dogs that cars are hazards to dogs if windows are locked. I for one is quite surprised that a dog relies on the tongue for cooling down and if that doesn't work then they die, also suffering !!
The message is clear, open the windows sufficiently for them to breath, am i right? _________________ Quoting Jack: you know me - a complete hopeless case & Sadly - and mark it in your diaries folks as you won't see this happen often - but <gulp> I HAVE to agree with Dave on this.

Saw this and was utterly disgusted. Anyone else would be prosecuted for animal cruelty. As far as I'm concerned so should the police be - they're not immune to prosecution and this wouldn't be "swept under the carpet" would it surely?
NO animal should be left in a hot unventilated place AT ALL, much less without water!!! It's not exactly rocket science is it??? _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |

I was brokenhearted watching this on the news. I could not believe a police dog handler could do this. Did it ever come out what happened. surely something very serious to distract this officer.....they will never live with themselves as they will not be the usual ned/thug variety who couldn't care less....but what was sad was that the station kennels were within 5 minutes of the car....so so sad. _________________ "In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog." |

The car was parked right outside the kennels????? What was he thinking?
Dogs DIE in hot cars.
Maybe one good thing may come out of this in that more people will realise:
They can not leave their dogs in the car in hot weather.
They must carry water for their dogs.
They need air conditioning full on driving in the car to too. _________________ Regards,

I don't have any aircon but hey my boys look great with their fur and ears flapping in the wind tunnel created by all the windows full open _________________ "In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog." |

Until he is found guilty he will be suspended on full pay. That is the norm, whatever the charge. _________________ Regards,
