Typical Alfie, he hasn't been sore at all. I've caught him jumping up an down off couch a couple of times....oops. It's not bothering him. His leg looks much better in that it's facing the right direction an if u get him to walk he will put his weight on it But leg still shorter so he still has a limpbut when he goes a bit faster he still holds it up and goes on 3 legs. I'm not sure how much of that is a habit!! His knee doesn't extend v well. Feels v stiff but hoping to start him on some hydrotherapy, the place he got his op has like a tank with a treadmill in it that they fill with water so hopefully not quite as scary as a pool cos this is a dog who won't walk in a puddle!!!

He's bored tho! Only getting 3 ten minute walks a day when he's used to 2-3 hours a day so when he is out he's pulling constantly, having to use treats to stop him jumping around and hurting himself. An he's go e back to being unable to walk past a person or dog without getting so overexcited and desperate to get to them. But hopefully once he can get out more he'll settle. Another 2 months at least til he can get off the lead again. Not sure when we'll be back at class maybe in a month or so?? Hope he won't have forgotten all he's learned ha ha!

Hope u had a nice holiday!

alfies leg saga update

we were at specialist today....think we're aiming for another month of hydrotherapy to try to help build up some muscle but looking at another op in november we think. so looks like he'll be out of action for another couple of months over christmas Sad again tho, will be worth it if it helps him any more.

alfie's had his op. poor wee guy had more done this time than last i think!! seems to have gone well and managed with a plate on his leg again rather than an external fixator which was what thought might happen. had 2 wedges removed from tibia to straighten leg and settle his cruciate problems. hes happy that xrays all look ok so just need to wait and see. im going to call in morning and see how he is and speak to the vet who did op around lunchtime, hopefully if he's happy with him i can get him then but he might keep him til thursday if thinks best.

house is way too quiet and its cold without my wee hot water bottle!

hopefully he'll be back as good as ever in no time. once hes settling in few weeks we'll pop by class for a visit but prob after xmas holidays Smile

Not really using it just now, will take a week or so for him to start using it hopefully. It's a bit swollen but not too bad. Can't really remember but think last time it was about 3 or 4 days after op when it started to get all bruised and puffy.

Got to say tho, he's trying to run around already. This is going to be hard work keeping him quiet. He was doing fine til the postman came then he wanted to jump around and run to get him!! I think he was quieter last time around!!

Poor wee guy.....so glad he didn't need the external fixator.

Good luck trying to stop him running around like he normally does! Laughing
