Was contacted through a friend of a friend so dont really know to much about this

Border collie a year old (male) has 2 weeks to find a new home or he's getting put to sleep
think from what i was told the dog has nipped an 8 year old child (think the child tried to take a toy of the dog) sounds like the dog is being dominant and does not like anything being taken from him.

Can find out more if anyone interested

So sorry to read this Sad Would have taken him in an instant but theres no way my parents would welcome another BC in the house.

Really hope he finds a home, can they not contact a rescue? Believe there are plenty of breed specific rescues they could get him.

Assume taking him to a training class isnt an option if they have kids?

Will cross post for you.

Hey

Have found one person who may be interested. They asked for a number to discuss in more detail with the owner.

Also was given the following advice

"Contact this rescue:
http://www.greatdanewelfarescotland.co.uk/

Although it says great dane, they take in all breeds with a variety of backgrounds. "

Another said

"have you tried border collie rescue? I dont have the details but my friends were in a similar situation trying to save a dumped dog (they had 4 so couldnt take on another) and they were really good"

it says on first page of the dog trust site that they never destroy a healthy dog.

http://www.dogstrust.org.uk

seems to be a bit hypocritical.

Thats cause they have a strict screening process, they dont accept them

Heaven forbid it affects their image Wink

Thats why i volunteer with charities who are only in it for the dogs.

(Although Dogs trust of course do a fab job of re-homing dogs, just skeptical about a lot of their methods and attitudes.)

To be fair in rescue, there is a thinking the time taken on 1 dog with problems who you have to spend months re-habilitating could have been taken on 10 dogs with no issues. They try to save as many dogs as possible from being pts so aim to take on more dogs with no real issues who they can try get straight back out the door. Fact is there are too many dogs being bred in the world and they cant all be saved Sad (something I find difficult to come to terms with)

Found out the other day even colour plays a part in how quickly a dog is rehomed, with black dogs and black dogs with white markings taking the longest to get re-homed.

I love my black and tan and black and white girls Very Happy lol If anything im drawn to black dogs

Glad to hear this one has had a happy ending, was keeping an eye on this given the whole collie angle with my mad mutt Fred.

Hope to be seeing you all again when we return to the classes in February.
