After Ash we didn't talk about dogs for a while. Hurt too much and I felt like I had let him and myself down.
But we have been talking for a while about getting a dog. And a couple of weeks ago decided we should. After much researching and talking it over a great deal as to how it would all work and what breed would be best and which breeds we liked and didn't like.
We have bitten the bullet and are impatiently waiting for a Springer Spaniel puppy bitch to be big enough to leave her mummy.
Hubby has always loved the breed and always wanted one. I had never really thought about them to be honest but the more I have learnt the more I feel they are a better choice for our family.
I am still really nervous about the idea but massively excited too. Her mum is an amazing family dog with a wonderful temperament. It is her first litter and same for her owners too, it was planned but they are not KC dogs.
We have been over twice now to sit with the pups and the wee one fell asleep on my lap this afternoon. She is just over 2 weeks old so we have a wait yet.
That is giving me plenty of time to research the breed and make sure the house is ready, it is like preparing for the arrival of a human baby!
We have bought a breed book on reccomendation from friends who have owned Springers. And I got a general colour me in one for our smaller children to work through so they can start to learn about their impending responsibility. They are less excited than I expected. Though they occassionally ask if the doggie is coming tomorrow.
I still am unsure about food. We fed Burns before but there are new foods on the market and I have been reccomended Barking Heads? Seems quite new but I have a sample coming in the post.
RAW is too impractical for us so I am looking at a good alternative.
Here is a pick. Still not entirely settled on a name for her yet but I am sure it will come

My friend called their liver and white springer " Bonny" and it suits so well. She looks vey like your pup!
aww that was my childhood doggies name. We had a Black and White Border Collie named Bonnie. I used to ride around on her back when I was smaller aparently. I can't remember doing it! I just remember cuddling into her and going to sleep
