Last week I posted about Cap the border collie wanting to 'play' with the traffic and the problems we were having trying to put a stop to it before it really got out of hand.

Well you'll never guess what........we have had major progress since Saturday morning!!!

After trying and failing miserably at "Leave it!", "NO!", and a bottle filled with pebbles, we finally found an answer - a spray of water from a household spray bottle and the word "QUIET!". My husband tested this out on Sat morning and it certainly snapped him out of his fixation/barking at the passing cars. He has only barked around 5 times between Sat and Sun and has not been sprayed since Monday morning (for making a silent lunge toward a car). He has finally got the message that it's not ok to bark/chase traffic. While he still stops and either lies down or stands until the traffic has passed, the difference it has made to our walks has been immence. I still take the bottle with me for now but I'm confident that I'll be able to leave at home soon.

So for anyone who has the same problem and tried everything else, a spray bottle certainly works and it's much cheaper than buying a spray collar.

Really good to hear you are making progress...........collies can be easy to train but almost always have some 'quirks' as well.
