working at a distance is something im still having problems with. when i put down a lead they always go over it.
so i have been trying something that seams to be working with Gypsy, i have started putting her on a door mat (and at the moment i have to put a box in front of her so she cant put her paws any further forward)
but if she comes to far forward and i tell her 'back' or 'back on mat' and take a step forward she backs herself up so that all 4 paws are on the mat. then i can get her bake into the down or sit. (not tried to do it with the stand yet, as i want to focus on the first two to start with)
just wanted to know if anyone ells had tried it and if it had worked for you. _________________ microchiping and grooming www.chipnclip.co.uk

I have always used the lead in the past, Kendal. Lead works with Beagles. I have laid out bamboo sticks outside in the garden to make a send space and used that to do distance commands because the dogs seem to stay in the space.
Basil is so big he just seems to move forward a metre every time he does any move. _________________ Regards,

In the dog obedience training book i have, they train distance control with the dog behind a wire kind of 'cage' it has a front and 2 sides, and also the training day I went to see Richard Curtis, when he was teaching the reverse where the dog backs away from you it was done similar _________________ lurchers Pixel and Zev and whippet, Fen
