Sorry never heard of using olive oil.
I think With Bens coat after every brushing it seems to bring out some oils which help to make it shine a bit.

A teaspoon or 5ml for a small dog but for a dog of Tara's size I would suggest a tablespoon or 10 - 15ml. Give once a day only with their meal either drizzled on or mixed in too much and you will notice them piling on the weight - sure they'll eat as much as you give them as they LOVE the taste but you have to limit it or it can undo all the good you are trying to do.
Also consider Vitapet. It costs more but has specific vitamins in to improve their coat AND joints. I usually start giving it to my Staffies when they hit 8 or 9 years of age as it's round about then you notice that they start to slow down (SOME unkind people might suggest they become more like "normal" dogs )and also around this time you might notice arthritis starts to appear. Mine also like the Bob Martin conditioning tablets and I have to say their coats do get more glossy when I give them a couple of those a day _________________ Staffies are my life! Another tip that my brother uses in his kennels is a portion of sardines a week great source of omega oils and really helps a dull coat and the dogs love it. Aldi and Lidl do the tins and are quite cheap as a treat. |

Yep - makes them ming even more!!!! Pilchards are also great, as is Salmon but that should be given more sparingly given the high fat and protein content.
Also care should be taken and NEVER give them if they are in brine as there's WAY too much salt in that than is good for our pooches _________________ Staffies are my life! Visit us at www.staffies.co.uk |

olive oil is good for their coats. I don't use it as my two get pilchards and raw eggs every week which keeps their coats looking lovely, but yes it does make them stinky They love them though! |
